12 months ago to the day our sister page Evolution was created. Today, it it has a phenomenal 495,000 fans and reaches 4 million people every week, educating the public on the amazing diversity that exists on our planet.

Evolution was created around a month after IFLS first began, when I first started to realize that this page could truly become a force for public science outreach, rather than the science humour blog I originally intended. Biology is what I studied, so I was incredibly excited to start a page so close to my own heart and to be able to promote it to so many like minded people.

I am assisted in this by a team of dedicated volunteers, some of whom have been involved from day one. These range from undergraduates to PhD researchers and all do an absolutely fantastic job.

So please, if you haven't already head over and “like” evolution and join me in sending a huge thank you to its amazing team.
