Seth MacFarlane

On this date in 1973, Seth MacFarlane was born in
Kent, Conn. MacFarlane graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design,
where he earned his bachelor of fine arts in animation. He began his
career in animation at Hanna-Barbera Productions, where he animated and
wrote scripts for children’s shows such as “Johnny Bravo” (1997) and
“Cow and Chicken” (1995). After his show “Family Guy” debuted in 1999,
MacFarlane became famous for writing, producing and voice acting for
popular animated comedy shows for adult audiences. His other shows
include “American Dad!”, beginning in 2005, and “The Cleveland Show,”
beginning in 2009.
MacFarlane is a self-described atheist. During an August 18, 2009 interview with Esquire, he said this about Carl Sagan: “Noted atheist, optimist, and essential popularizer of science. We need another one of them.”
