Evolution
This brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "You look like crap."
The Bird Dropping Spider or Celaena excavata has developed into a very
interesting morphological state. To avoid predation from its number one
enemy, birds, this spider has evolved body shape and markings that mimic
the look and color of bird poop. No one wants to eat their own poop,
right? But that's not all this amazing spider
has up it's sleeve: it also releases a pheromone that mimicks sex
pheromones of female moths which the moth uses to attract a mate.
Confused and lusty male moths will often find themselves in the web of a
spider instead of the embrace of a willing female :)
